In connection with the detected cases of Covid-19, home quarantine has been set for approximately 35 students of Daugavpils Ice Sports School in the “Dinaburgas” hockey team, Kristīne Alžāne, the director of the educational institution, assured LETA.
She said home quarantine was imposed on groups that had contacted coaches who had been diagnosed last Friday. In total, epidemiologists have ordered home quarantine for about 35 school students. They have no symptoms of the disease.
Alžāne said that children will be provided with a distance learning process, as happened in the spring. Students were sent video analysis and general fitness exercises in video format.
Taking into account Covid-19 diseases, today Daugavpils Sports Board will not accept visitors in person.
It has already been reported that the Optibet Hockey League (OHL) team in Daugavpils “Dinaburga” has found several cases of Covid-19.
On Friday, it was reported that several players of the Daugavpils “Dinaburg” team had a fever, so the unit’s game with “Mogo” / LSPA, scheduled for Saturday, was postponed indefinitely. For safety reasons, Covid-19 analyzes were performed on the entire team.
“Currently, four people in the team have had positive Covid-19 tests. We communicate with epidemiologists to help identify contacts. Several hockey players had a slight fever, we canceled the game for safety reasons, and unfortunately the tests confirmed the infection with Covid-19, ”said Ruslan Kurelas, club board member and manager.
Toms Broks, the competition director of the Latvian Hockey Federation (LHF), explained that on Monday it will be decided how the Daugavpils club will continue the OHL season.
“Currently, the games of all Daugavpils teams have been canceled in other tournaments as well, because these units have used the same premises,” said Broks.
Dinaburg is still fighting without points and ranks last among the seven units.
