COVID-19: Ombudsman’s Office asks to investigate case of mass vaccination of Lima residents in Chincha

The Ombudsman’s Office urged that the Ministry of Health, in coordination with the Regional Health Directorate (Diresa) of Ica, investigate the case of people, mainly from Lima, who flocked to Chincha to get vaccinated against COVID-19 with a dose of the brand Pfizer, a situation that has left the residents of this place without vaccines.

Through a statement, they recalled that vaccination against COVID-19 It must be carried out according to age and the territorial model and that mobilizing with the sole purpose of being immunized with a certain vaccine harms the local population and their timely access to vaccination, in addition to specifying that all vaccines are effective.

Last weekend, hundreds of people from Lima they came to Chincha, in the region Ica, to get vaccinated against COVID-19, presumably to be inoculated with laboratory drugs Pfizer, which are the ones that are being applied in this province.

In dialogue with RPP News, the director of the San José de Chincha Hospital, Richard Sifuentes Saravia, estimated that 80% of those vaccinated against COVID-19 in the iqueña province it comes from the capital. “It has been very surprising, given that we are applying the Pfizer vaccine. I think that has been the reason for the arrival of this population,” he mentioned.

ALL VACCINES OFFER PROTECTION

The director of immunizations of the Ministry of Health, Gabriela Jiménez, suggested that the population not travel to the provinces to get vaccinated against COVID-19, in order to keep an orderly record of the people who are immunized.
