Covid-19: Minsa delivered bicycles to raffle winners to promote vaccination | News

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) today delivered 10 bicycles to the winning girls and boys of the second raffle that was held with the aim of promoting vaccination against covid-19 in the population between 5 and 11 years of age. Photo gallery

In coordination with the Diris of Metropolitan Lima and the Diresa Callao, the sector delivered the bicycles among the minor winners of the draw, and who came to complete their second dose of the coronavirus vaccine until July 21.

The activity was attended by the executive director of Immunizations of the Minsa, María Elena Martínez, and the general director of Diris Lima Centro, Luis Valverde.

During the activity, Martínez announced that, thanks to the contest and other initiatives to encourage and promote pediatric vaccination, 70% had been achieved in the application of first doses and 56% with second doses of the vaccine against covid-19.

The director urged parents to go to vaccination centers to protect minors from the virus that remains latent in Peru.

According to the Minsa, this percentage corresponds to 2 million 946 thousand 763 minors. Meanwhile, the coverage of the second dose in this population group at the national level amounts to 2 million 348 thousand 858, which represents 55.9%.

If the first and second doses applied in children aged 5 and 11 are added, there is a total of 5 million 295 thousand 621 doses placed in this segment of people.

According to the Single National Health Information Repository (Reunis) of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), the goal is to vaccinate 4,201,842 children of these ages. The daily vaccination average amounts to 2,402 doses in the month of July.

What vaccine do they receive?

Martínez explained that children between the ages of 5 and 11 only receive the Pfizer-brand vaccine, in accordance with the Minsa immunization plan and schedule.
