The damage due to Covid-19 will be heavily felt by the whole world. This Sunday the United Nations Agency for Children (Unicef) warned of the disruption of vaccination campaigns in the Middle East and North Africa.
Unicef has indicated that some vaccination campaigns have been suspended due to the mobilization of medical staff in the fight against the Covid-19 disease.
Thus the UN agency announces that “ten million children under the age of five, or one in five, risk not being vaccinated against polio. Nearly 4.5 million children under 15 at risk of not being vaccinated against measles
And according to Unicef regional director Ted Chaiban: “It is absolutely crucial that every child is immunized against deadly diseases like polio, measles, diphtheria and hepatitis.
Unicef and the World Health Organization warned in mid-April that due to the reduction in vaccination campaigns in several countries engaged in the fight against the novel coronavirus pandemic, some 117 million children across the people were at risk of contracting measles.
