NFL players have the right to choose to forgo the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Two options for those who wish to do so.
“Voluntary” renunciation: the player receives 150,000 dollars. His contract is postponed to next season but the amount received is considered an advance on his salary. His season is not counted towards the free agency. Non-drafted free agents cannot receive the $ 150,000.
Quitting because of “high risk”: for players with a risky condition (cancer, kidney problems, lung disease, heart problems, diabetes, etc.). They receive 350,000 dollars which is not considered as an advance on salary and their season is counted towards the free agency.
