COVID-19: Gatineau Shaker customers invited to get tested

Outaouais public health invited on Tuesday all customers who frequented the Shaker restaurant-bar in Gatineau between August 20 and 27 to get tested for COVID-19.

This directive also applies to all employees, as the outbreak there appears to be larger than expected.

In addition to the five employees of the Shaker resto-bar in Gatineau in the Outaouais region affected by COVID-19, three contagious customers have also frequented the establishment recently, the Outaouais Integrated Health and Social Services Center (CISSSO ), Tuesday.

CISSO pointed out that employees worked in this restaurant while they were contagious.

The Gatineau Shaker said last Sunday on its Facebook page that five employees affected by the coronavirus had not been at their work since August 24 and that they were in isolation for ten days. Management claimed that none of them had been in direct contact with customers.

“In addition, all employees who have been in direct contact with them have also been placed in administrative segregation for a period of 10 days,” added the Promenades Gatineau establishment on Facebook.

This restaurant-bar on Mahoney Boulevard was to remain open thanks to an external team, but he announced Monday on Facebook that it was going to be closed for the “next few days” as a preventive measure.

People who want to be screened in Gatineau can call 1-877- 644-4545 or consult the section of the CISSS de l’Outaouais website on screening: https://cisssoutaouais.gouv.qc.ca/covid- 19 / # screening.
