Covid-19: free screenings organized in the Orleans metropolitan area

The Center-Val de Loire Regional Health Agency (ARS) offers free screening tests to the entire population. Centers have been set up in Orléans and soon in Saint-Jean-de-la-Ruelle. The ARS specifies in its press release below that these screenings consist in evaluating the spread of the virus in the department. According to our colleagues from France Blue, the implementation of these tests comes following the discovery of “ a new “cluster” (…) last Sunday in the Orleans La Source district following a wedding ».

[Communiqué]

ARS Center-Val de Loire and the Prefecture of Loiret, in conjunction with the cities of Orleans and Saint Jean-de-la-Ruelle, the Orléans Regional Hospital Center, the Anabio, Bioalliance and Médibiolab laboratories are organizing free screening operations, without an appointment and without a prescription, from Thursday, August 13, 2020.

The first screening operations will take place:

  • in Orléans, in the premises of the Porte Madeleine dispensary, 1 rue porte madeleine:

– Saturday August 15, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

– from Monday 17 to Saturday 22 August 2020 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  • in Orléans-la-Source, in the premises of the MEDIBIOLab laboratory, 36 Avenue du Président John Kennedy:

– Thursday August 13 and Friday August 14, 2020 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

– Monday August 17 and Tuesday August 18, 2020 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

These operations are intended for all people, regardless of their place of residence.

Other free screening campaigns, without an appointment, will be offered by the end of August in downtown Orleans, at the 3 Fontaines shopping center and in the Chaises district in Saint Jean-de. -the small street.

Screening consists of an RT-PCR virological test (nasal sample) which determines whether the person is a carrier of the virus at the time of the sample. The screening only takes 5 minutes. The results will be communicated within 48 hours.

People who come to be tested must bring their vital card, or their social security certificate and / or their identity document. A mask is also necessary.

These operations aim to strengthen knowledge of the level of circulation of the virus in the department. They will make it possible, in the event of discovery of a positive result, to trigger the search for possible contact persons, to alert them in order to better protect them and thus break the chains of transmission of the virus.

ARS Center-Val de Loire and the Loiret prefecture strongly encourage the population to participate in this free screening which is open to anyone from 11 years of age. It is about contributing to the collective effort to contain the spread of the virus within our region.

The ARS Center-Val de Loire and the Prefecture of Loiret also recall that the laboratories of the CHRO (14 avenue de l’Hôpital in Orléans-la-Source), Bioalliance (15 rue des Droits de l’Homme in Orléans) and Médibiolab (Oréliance site, 755 avenue Jacqueline Auriol in Saran) have each set up a “COVID center” and offer samples by appointment (see timetables and procedures on the sante.fr site), also free.

This campaign, which allows wide accessibility to tests, is complementary to existing screening systems. It is therefore always possible to be tested, by appointment, in the medical analysis laboratories and sampling points mentioned on the sante.fr site.

To reduce the virus, let’s be responsible, adopt barrier gestures and favor wearing a mask.
