Covid-19. Fines are already in place for anyone who violates rules

The fines for those who violate the rules to contain the covid-19 pandemic came into force at 00:00 on Saturday.

“Despite the current trend of evolution of the epidemiological situation, it appears that the new contagions are often the result of situations of non-compliance with the rules of physical distance, especially in events that involve the gathering of people”, begins by justifying the Government in the decree-law text published this Friday in Diário da República.

The value of fines varies between 100 and 500 euros for natural persons. In the case of companies, it is between € 1,000 and € 5,000, indicates the diploma, and this table applies “to the failure to fulfill the duties established by declaring the situation of alertness, contingency or calamity”, the text of the decree-law reads.

“This sanctioning framework stems from the fact that most of the new contagions are associated with non-compliance, in places and events with crowds of people, of the physical distance rules resulting from the situations of alert, contingency and calamity declared under the Basic Protection Law Civil “, indicates.

In a note from the Ministry of Internal Administration, it is mentioned that among the various rules of occupation, permanence and physical distance in places open to the public, the following stand out:

– mandatory use of masks or visors in public transport; in commercial and service spaces and establishments; public or public buildings; in schools and kindergartens or concert halls;
