Covid-19. Brazil reaches 4.5 million cases – News

Of this total, 739 deaths and 33,057 new cases of infection were recorded in the last 24 hours, when Brazilian health authorities are investigating the possible relationship of 2,316 deaths with the new coronavirus.

According to the latest bulletin released by the Ministry of Health, the lethality rate of covid-19 in the country remains at 3.0%, with the incidence rate now being 65.0 deaths and 2,154.8 cases for every 100 thousand inhabitants.

In Brazil, the Portuguese-speaking country most affected by the pandemic, 3,820,095 people diagnosed have already recovered from the disease and 571,613 infected are under medical supervision.

In the world panorama, Brazil, with about 212 million inhabitants, occupies the second position in the list of country with the highest total number of deaths and the third in relation to the total number of cases of infection, as well as of recovered patients.

Geographically, the Brazilian states with the highest number of people diagnosed with the covid-19 are São Paulo (931,673), Bahia (294,210), Minas Gerais (268,009) and Rio de Janeiro (251,261).

Taking into account the number of fatalities, the most affected federative units are São Paulo (33,927), Rio de Janeiro (17,634), Ceará (8,801) and Pernambuco (8,004).

The covid-19 pandemic has already claimed at least 953,025 deaths and more than 30.5 million cases of infection in 196 countries and territories, according to a report by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December in Wuhan, a city in central China.

After Europe succeeded China as the center of the pandemic in February, the American continent is now the one with the most confirmed cases and the most deaths.
