Over 37 thousand infections by Coronavirus in the workplace between the end of February and May 4: 9 thousand more in the last two weeks. In all 129 deaths at work with 31 more deaths since April 21 (date of the last survey) and a clear prevalence of men (82.2%) over women (17.8%). Doctors and nurses are the most exposed to risk with 73.2% of complaints and almost 40% of fatal cases in the health and social care sector. Inail takes stock of Covid-19 infections of professional origin with the data of the complaints received by the institute since the beginning of the epidemic.

The negative primacy of the North West
The negative primacy of Lombardy with more than one out of three reports (34.2%) and almost 43% of fatal cases. Eight out of ten complaints come from the North West which has 53.9% of the total, 25.2% from the North East, the rest distributed between Central (12.5%), South (6%) and Islands (2.4 %). Piedmont had 14.9% of fatal cases, Emilia Romagna 10%, Veneto 8.9%, Tuscany 5.8%, Liguria 4.2%.
The average age of infected workers, Inail says, 47 years old, for both men and women. But it rises to 59 years if we consider the fatal cases: 2 out of 3 deaths are in the 50 to 64 age range, over 20% of the reported deaths in the age group over 64 years.
