Dakar, August 6 (APS) – Senegal on Thursday recorded 177 new cases of coronavirus, 5 more deaths and 113 recoveries.
These new infections were detected on a sample of 1,917 tests, over the past 24 hours, i.e. a positivity rate of 9.23%, said the Director of Prevention at the Ministry of Health, Doctor El Hadj Mamadou Ndiaye.
Taking stock of the situation of the day, Dr Ndiaye reported that among the infected people are 159 contact cases followed by the health services and 18 others from community transmission identified in Dakar (13), Mbour (1), Dioffior (1). ), Nioro (1), Tambacounda (1) and Thiès (1).
El Hadj Mamadou Ndiaye announced that 5 new deaths linked to Covid-19 were recorded on Wednesday, while 33 serious cases are being taken care of in intensive care units.
He announced that 113 patients were tested negative and declared cured. The health of the other patients is stable.
As of today, Senegal has 10,715 cases of covid-19 including 7,101 cured, 223 deaths and 3,390 patients under treatment, according to the Ministry of Health and Social Action.
