The Council of the Republic assessed, this Friday, the 22nd, the proposed Law on the Amendment of the Political-Administrative Division, after having been analyzed yesterday, in the Council of Ministers.
During the meeting, chaired by the President of the Republic, João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, the Councilors were informed of the progress of the proposal and agreed on the new Political-Administrative Division.
The Council of the Republic, according to the final communiqué of the meeting, spoke in favor of prioritizing the subdivision of the territory of the current provinces of Moxico and Cuando Cubango.
The Council of the Republic also gave the green light to the proposal to elevate Communes and Urban Districts to the category of Municipalities, across the entire length of the national territory, in a total of 161, making a total of 325 Municipalities.
The proposed Law on the Amendment of the Political-Administrative Division must go to the National Assembly.
