Several countries have already refused to participate in Eurovision for financial reasons. Zane Piļkas-Karaleviča’s material “Towards Eurovision at any price” in the publication “Privatā Dzīve” reveals whether Latvia will follow their example.
Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Montenegro refused to participate in Eurovision. However, LTV did not think about giving up Eurovision. Even if there is a global energy crisis and inflation, the representative of Latvia will start in Liverpool, England.
LTV has already announced the candidacy of the songs to the national selection “Supernova”.
“We believe the competition is very important: it is not only an important show for the European public and public media, but also an opportunity to bring the name of Latvia to the world,” explains LTV.
It is not allowed to disclose the amount by which the competition license fee for Latvia is increased.
