CÔTE-D’OR: Impact of modernization work on the Paris-Lyon line

During five weekends, between September 26 and October 25, the circulation of TER trains arriving or leaving Dijon or Venarey-Les Laumes will be affected. SNCF Réseau also indicates that TGV and Lyria will be discontinued.

MODERNIZATION OF THE TRACK AT TONNERRE STATION (89) ON THE DIJON-PARIS LINE FROM AUGUST 31 TO NOVEMBER 13, 2020

THE WORKSITE

This modernization operation at Tonnerre station (89) consists of renewing 4 switches, removing track C as well as 6 switches, and renewing the track over 2.5 kilometers. The works amount to € 8.9 million financed by SNCF Réseau.

SNCF Réseau, manager of the national rail network, is undertaking work on the Dijon-Paris line, at Tonnerre station, from August 31 to November 13, 2020. This work consists of renewing 4 switches, removing track C as well as 6 switches, and renew the track for 2.5 kilometers. The total cost of this work, financed by SNCF Réseau, amounts to 8.9 million euros.

In order to disrupt rail traffic to a minimum, the work will take place during the week and during the day. In addition, five punching operations will be carried out and will require traffic cuts on the weekends of September 26 – 27, October 3 – 4, October 10 – 11, October 17 – 18, and October 24 – 25.

About ten companies are involved throughout the duration of the work, thus promoting the local economy. 50 agents on average are mobilized each day to carry out this work.

This project is part of the network modernization program, which gives priority to the renovation of the existing network.

These network modernization works are essential in order to ensure the performance of the network and to guarantee optimum conditions of regularity and safety of rail traffic. They are also an opportunity to sustainably enhance our territory.

TRAVELER INFORMATION

As part of this work, train traffic will be interrupted at Tonnerre station on the weekends of September 26 – 27, October 3 – 4, October 10 – 11, October 17 – 18, and October 24 – 25, impacting all TER and TGV traffic on the Dijon-Laroche-Paris line.

A replacement bus service is set up during these 5 weekends with a limited number of places. Travelers are encouraged, whenever possible, to postpone their trip.

– No direct TER between Dijon and Laroche-Migennes
– Removal of many TER Dijon / Les Laumes
– No TER between Les Laumes Alésia and Laroche-Migennes.

Due to other concomitant works, the TGV from / to Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and the Lyria from / to Lausanne or Zurich using the Dijon-Paris axis are canceled.

From or to Paris, customers from / to Lausanne can however take TGV Lyria via Geneva.

IMPACT OF THE WORK

As with any project of this magnitude, the work carried out at Tonnerre station (89) will be accompanied by perceptible noise pollution in the work areas, near the residential areas. Aware of the disruptions that this site will cause, SNCF Réseau is raising awareness among its staff and construction companies in order to reduce them as much as possible.
