Sensitive to the cries of heart of the National Center for Blood Transfusion (CNTS), the foundation Action for Good (APB) chaired by Hassan Ismaël decided to play its part in the strategy of supplying the blood bank.

It is in this sense that it proceeded today, at the Center Bureautique de Comptabilité et Gestion (CBCG) in Treichville, to launch its first national blood donation caravan in collaboration with the CNTS.

This noble initiative of the NGO APB aims to collect 100,000 blood bags both in Abidjan and in the interior of the country.

According to Guy Joris Doho, Executive Director of this NGO, the lack of blood is a sad reality that hospitals and other health centers experience on a daily basis. It was therefore imperative for the APB foundation, which intervenes in several areas including health, to act to fill this gap in blood banks.

“According to the forecasts of the CNTS, there are 80,000 to 100,000 blood bags to cover. Côte d’Ivoire has 25 million inhabitants and therefore we need 250,000 blood bags each year for the proper functioning of the blood bank. But it turns out that out of the 250,000 pockets, the bank only manages to mobilize 150,000 to 170,000 pockets. There is therefore a deficit of 80,000 pockets to make up for. That’s why we’re organizing this caravan, to collect as many blood bags as possible. Our goal is to reach 100,000 pockets,” he explained.

For the beginning of this caravan, the CBCG of Treichville was chosen. In this school, the APB foundation intends to collect 500 bags of blood. The caravan will then head to the University of Cocody on March 26, precisely on campuses 1 and 2, to try to collect 5,000 blood bags, before the next steps. Hassan Ismaël, president of the APB foundation, said he was happy with the start of this caravan.

“I am very happy today to take an action that is in the interest of society and humanity. Our foundation does social work and it is with great pride that I see the enthusiasm shown by the students of the CBCG around blood donation”, he rejoiced.
