Cost of 1.85 million euros for a new fire station: “The cheapest insurance in and for Gondelsheim for 119 years”

Gondelsheim (kn) Mayor Markus Rupp spoke of a special day for the Gondelsheim volunteer fire brigade at the opening of the community’s new fire station. “This is a clear commitment to our fire brigade,” he emphasized and added: “Of course this is also a special day for all of Gondelsheim. All citizens benefit from an operational fire brigade. ”It is all the more regrettable that the festival planned for the opening with an open day for the population had to be canceled due to corona. “But we will definitely make up for that,” promised Rupp.

“Good and important sign”

District Administrator Christoph Schnaudigel described the fact that the opening took place on a small scale as a good and important sign: “At the moment we have to do without so much and cancel so much. Today is important, especially since it is about such an important thing as protecting the population. ”The latter can also be seen from the fact that, in addition to the district administrator, district fire chief Jürgen Bordt and his predecessor Thomas Hauck also appeared. Schnaudigel congratulated Gondelsheim “on having made the difficult and fundamental decision for a new fire station for a small community with a manageable budget”.

Cost of 1.85 million euros

After all, after the expansion of the Kraichgau School, it is the second largest investment in the history of the place in recent decades. The creation cost 1.85 million euros. 1.25 million euros of this is borne by the municipality itself, the rest comes from public grants. In view of the financial and practical importance, Mayor Rupp thanked the local council: “The unanimous vote of the local council in 2015 for the new building sent a clear signal.” Now the fire brigade is receiving functional, but also elegant and contemporary accommodation. In addition, the construction stayed on time and on budget, said Rupp. Incidentally, the fire brigade also has a significant share in this. With a lot of passion and time, the fire brigade helped shape and participated.

1,000 hours of personal work by the fire brigade

Fire brigade commander Wolfgang Heck also put the personal effort at around 1,000 hours. “And there will no doubt be a few more.” He was just as certain that the effort was worth it: “It was a long and sometimes nerve-wracking time. But the fire brigade and citizens also got an excellent new home for it.”

“Building for Generations”

600 square meters of floor space, 3,300 cubic meters of enclosed space, a hall for three emergency vehicles, an operations center with the latest technology, training and common rooms for the men and women of the fire brigade as well as the youngsters – these are the most important facts and figures about the new Gondelsheim fire station. At the same time, the accommodation located in the center of the village since 1964 has had its day and has been replaced by a “building for generations”, as the mayor called it. Incidentally, the new fire station doesn’t change anything about one thing, says Rupp: “For 119 years the fire service has been the cheapest insurance in and for Gondelsheim.”
