Four parliamentarians of the Democratic Party have asked to become civil parties in the trial against the undersecretary of Justice Andrea Delmastro which opened today in Rome and sees him accused of revealing official secrecy in relation to the anarchist affair Alfredo Cospito. The application, which had been rejected by the preliminary hearing judge, was refiled by Silvio Lai, Debora Serracchiani, Walter Verini e Andrea Orlando. These are the members of the Dem delegation who had visited the anarchist in prison to ascertain his state of health during his hunger strike. The secret services of the prisons – the Nic and the Gom – on that occasion confidentially followed the visit and drew up reports: after 20 days in the Chamber the Melonian Giovanni Donzelliwho shares an apartment in Rome with Undersecretary Delmastro, cited those documents considered confidential in the courtroom.

The next political storm reached the prosecutor’s office. Last July, the investigating judge Emanuela Attura ordered the compulsory indictment of the Undersecretary of Justice after the Rome prosecutor’s office had requested the dismissal, considering the objective existence of the violation, but believing that Delmastro was not aware of the existence of the secret.
Now the president of the eighth criminal section of the court of Rome, Paola Roja, after having listened to the defense lawyers in the courtroom and the prosecutor, postponed the hearing to April 2nd for the admission of the civil parties and the presentation of the lists of witnesses. Also on file is the list of texts: the Dem representatives ask to hear the minister of the case in the trial Justice Nordio and the FdI deputy, Giovanni Donzelli. In the list of witnesses filed by the defendant’s defenders, among others, the name of the head of the Dap appears, John Russo.
