The Prime Minister returned to this famous social bubble and wanted to clarify it. Each household can see 5 people with whom it does not necessarily have to respect social distancing. Other social contacts remain authorized, subject to certain rules being observed.
The Prime Minister wanted to clarify the famous bubble of 5: “Many people did not understand the concept of the bubble of 5 and understood ‘I can only see 5 people’. No that’s not it! You can see more people, but always keep your safe distances“, she explained during the press conference of the National Security Council.
Concretely, this is how it works
With your household, you have the right to have close contact with 5 people, always the same for the whole household. You have the right to kiss, go to a restaurant or go on vacation with these people. All without a mask and without necessarily respecting social distances.
But your social life doesn’t have to stop at this 5-person bubble. “Each of us can see his family, his friends, all those he wants in fact without ever exceeding 10 people at the same time. But always, I insist, always, by respecting the safety distances”, Sophie Wilmès clarified.
Clearly, you can see other relatives but then respecting other conditions. Maximum 10 people at a time, with social distancing of 1.5 m or wearing a mask if this is not possible. Which means that what you can do with your bubble of 5, you cannot with your other loved ones. However, it is possible to cycle or go to the museum by respecting these measures.
The idea is to limit contacts as much as possible. The bubble will remain in effect at least until September 30.
