It was the simplest solution. This Monday, the International Olympic Committee (IOC), in conjunction with the organizing committee and the 33 federations involved, announced that the next Tokyo Olympic Games, postponed because of a coronavirus-related health crisis, will finally take place from 23 July to August 8, 2021. The information was provided by the Japanese news agency Kyodo News. These dates are substantially identical to those initially planned for this year, to the nearest day (July 24 to August 9, 2020) and which should avoid the headache of the different calendars to be rescheduled.

Since the announcement of the postponement of the Games due to the global coronavirus pandemic, several options had been considered. Last Friday, the governor of Tokyo, Yuriko Koike, had thus evoked to shift them in spring 2021 to avoid the big peaks of heat which undergoes the Japanese capital the summer. But this solution would have come up against the problem of calendars.
