Coronavirus, the bulletin of 10 August: eight new cases in Tuscany. Average age 27 years

Florence, 10 August 2020 – Today 8 cases In Tuscany there are 10,652 cases of Coronavirus positivity, 8 more than yesterday (7 identified in the course of tracing and 1 from screening activities). New cases are 0.1% more than the previous day’s total. The healed remained stable at 8,997 (84.5% of total cases). The tests performed reached 451,421, compared to yesterday 1,387 more.

The currently positive are today 518, + 1.6% compared to yesterday. Today there are no new deaths. These are the data – ascertained at 12 noon today on the basis of the requests of the National Civil Protection – relating to the progress of the epidemic in the region. With regard to yesterday’s 61 positives, thanks to the effective contact tracing carried out by the operators of the prevention departments of the three Tuscan ASLs, home isolation 217 people. The average age of the 8 cases today is about 27 years and, as regards the clinical states, 25% were asymptomatic, 75% pauci-symptomatic. 3 of the 8 positivity are related to people who have returned from a holiday abroad.

It should be remembered that starting from 24/06/2020, the Ministry of Health has modified the data collection system on the spread of Covid-19. Positive cases are no longer indicated according to the province of notification but according to the province of residence or domicile. The following are the cases of positivity in the area with the change compared to yesterday. I’m 3,319 total cases to date a Florence (3 more than yesterday), 572 a Meadow, 759 a Pistoia, 1.076 a Pulp (1 more), 1.417 in Lucca (3 more), 969 to Pisa, 494 in Livorno, 714 in Arezzo (1 more), 441 a Siena, 420 a Grosseto.

There are 471 positive cases reported in Tuscany, but residing in other regions. There are therefore 3 cases found today in the Central ASL, 4 in the North West, 1 in the South East. Tuscany is confirmed in 10th place in Italy in terms of number of cases (including residents and non-residents), with about 286 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (Italian average about 415 x100,000, yesterday’s figure). The provinces of notification with the highest rate are Massa Carrara with 552 cases x100,000 inhabitants, Lucca with 365, Florence with 328, the lowest Livorno with 148. Overall, 501 people are in isolation at home, as they have mild symptoms that they do not require hospital treatment, or are symptom-free (6 more than yesterday, plus 1.2%).

There are 1,586 (9 more than yesterday, plus 0.6%) people, also isolated, in active surveillance because they have had contact with infected people (ASL Centro 981, North West 408, South East 197). There are 17 people admitted to beds dedicated to COVID patients today (2 more than yesterday, 13.3% more), 1 in intensive care (stable compared to yesterday). A total of 8,997 people healed (stable compared to yesterday): 128 clinically healed people (stable compared to yesterday), that is, who became asymptomatic after presenting clinical manifestations associated with the infection and 8,869 (stable compared to yesterday) declared fully cured , the so-called viral healings, with double negative swab. Today there are no new deaths. There are therefore 1,137 deaths since the beginning of the epidemic divided as follows: 417 in Florence, 52 in Prato, 81 in Pistoia, 174 in Massa Carrara, 144 in Lucca, 90 in Pisa, 63 in Livorno, 50 in Arezzo, 33 in Siena , 25 in Grosseto, 8 people died on Tuscan soil but were residents outside the region.

The Tuscan raw mortality rate (number of deaths / resident population) for Covid-19 is 30.5 x100,000 residents against 58.3 x100,000 of the Italian average (11th region). As for the provinces, the highest mortality rate is found in Massa Carrara (89.3 x100.000), Florence (41.2 x100.000) and Lucca (37.1 x100.000), the lowest in Grosseto (11.3 x100.000).
