Three steps forward, three steps back … and one step forward. The head of the Buenos Aires government Horacio Rodríguez Larreta is preparing to announce in the coming days, together with the president Alberto Fernandez and the Buenos Aires governor, Axel Kicillof, the continuity of the quarantine for another two weeks. And just like a fortnight ago, they emphasize in Parque Patricios, there will be progress, dropper but palpable, on the road to 6 stage plan and 100 protocols raised by the city in mid-July.
“We never said what items they were going to open now,” they said this morning near the head of government, who yesterday he spoke with the President for the continuity of the quarantine. The authorization for individual sports (tennis, golf, rowing and even turf) and to open commercial premises in avenues would finally be added to the list of authorized, leaving other sensitive items such as outdoor gastronomy and demarcation in public spaces such as squares relegated and take away. Of phase 2, only ten days ago the reopening of industries in the city was authorized. “People have to feel that they are going forward in some way,” they explained to the head of government after the first negotiation with Fernández and before an expected very hard conversation with Kicillof, still undated.
Far away, for the moment, activities of stage 3, such as the reopening of cemeteries, religious events with caps, shopping malls and medical care without treatment. Not to mention the social gatherings in open spaces with a maximum of ten people, the merry-go-rounds in the squares and domestic service for non-residents, included in phase 4, or the return of the theater and social gatherings in closed spaces, included in the phase 5. Science fiction seems today stage 6, with massive sporting events and open bowling alleys, while the reopening of schools does not even appear in that plan.
“We are going to move forward with the opening of some activities, with little impact on mobility, gradually and with great care, as we have been doing since the day we presented the start-up plan of the City,” they reiterated from the government porteño, careful in their relationship with the Casa Rosada.
They also added that they will review “the evolution of the data” of the last 15 days, to bring the proposed activities and “define” it between Thursday and Friday.
In the Buenos Aires government they say they did not take the words of the former president as “pressure” Mauricio Macri against the “dead end quarantine”, which according to the former president at yesterday’s meeting of Together for Change, “is no more.” “Macri focused on the Buenos Aires quarantine, said that he was no longer strictly strict.
