Coronavirus outbreak. The Sejm decided: December 6 will be a trading Sunday

The act on restricting trade on Sundays says that this year, the trade ban will not apply only on the two consecutive Sundays before Christmas, i.e. on December 13 and 20.

The lifting of the trade ban on Sunday, December 6, is to, on the one hand, spread the pre-holiday traffic in shops, and on the other – improve the financial situation of companies affected by the crisis. “The pre-holiday period, especially before Christmas, is a period when the number of customers making purchases is significant. In order to spread this process over time and thus reduce the number of customers shopping at the same time, it is reasonable to introduce an additional shopping Sunday on December 6, 2020. On the one hand, it will allow to maintain sanitary restrictions due to the ongoing epidemic, and on the other hand, it will have a positive impact on entrepreneurs, contributing to the improvement of their financial situation “- wrote in the justification on the website of the Government Legislation Center.

The trade “Solidarity” protested against the permit for trade on that day.

Regulation of the remote work issue of the infected

The draft also regulates the issue work remote for people infected with coronavirus, but suffering from mild or asymptomatic disease and staying in isolation. Currently, remote work can only be performed by an employee referred to home quarantine, not isolation.

In the justification of the draft, the government indicated that a large number of those infected do not show symptoms of the COVID-19 disease, therefore they should be able to work remotely with the consent of their employer. Then the worker will receive full reward. However, if his health deteriorates, he will be entitled to a sickness benefit. The solution is also intended to help employers who suffer from the problem of employee shortages due to the epidemic.
