Only in the case of Sardinia does the app also have a tracking function. In other cases it is used for statistical and epidemiological analyzes (Lombardy), for medical assistance (Lazio and Veneto) and for tourists on vacation (Sicily)

“Immune”, the government’s anti-contagion tracking app (which reached 4 million downloads on 27 June – more was expected), is in good company. It is flanked by a number of regional apps. Only in the case of Sardinia and Veneto, however, the apps also have a tracking function. In other cases they are mainly used for statistical and epidemiological analyzes (Lombardy), for medical remote assistance (Lazio), to assist tourists on vacation (Sicily). But let’s see in detail what the regional Apps are, how they work and what feedback they have had in terms of downloads.

In Lombardy 1.4 million downloads for «AllertaLom»

Lombardy has implemented the “AllertaOm” app, created for civil protection alerts, with functions related to the health emergency (for example, identification of outbreaks, statistical and epidemiological analyzes).
The App is not like Immuni. There is no tracking of positives. You are asked to fill in a short questionnaire: gender, age, past conditions (overweight, diabetes, hypertension); Municipality and ZIP code where you live and Municipality and ZIP code where you work (in case you are still going out for work); if you have had contact with positive people; symptoms (temperature, loss of taste and smell, cough, muscle pain, tiredness, conjunctivitis, diarrhea, cold). At any time it is possible (max 1 time per day) to update the answers to the questionnaire, signaling the emergence of new symptoms. The information collected contributes to feeding a “contagion risk map”. The questionnaire is completed anonymously and the app does not provide mechanisms for continuous location of the participants. The number of users at the moment is around 1.4 million

Registration and tracking app (voluntary) in Sardinia

To land in Sardinia, online registration is mandatory to provide general data and information on the stay on the island. From 12 June, registration for those arriving in Sardinia can also be made on “SardegnaSicura”, the App of the Region released on the Ios and Android operating systems. There are two main sections on the device home page. The first “Registration of boarding and stay in Sardinia” where it is possible to indicate the general information, (city of origin and arrival, departure date, as well as the form with the health information related to Covid-19). The other section is about tracking displacements with geolocation. But the latter can only be activated on a voluntary basis. As of June 23, there are 32,790 Android installations and 30,700 iOS installations, for a total of over 63 thousand downloads.

In Lazio, an App for medical remote assistance

LazioDrCovid is the App launched by the Lazio Region for medical remote assistance. More than 80 thousand users have already downloaded the application and 2,200 family doctors and 300 paediatricians of free choice connected. The app allows you to connect patients with health workers and toll-free number 800118800. It is not an emergency service and does not replace the service of the Single Emergency Number 112/118 which must be activated by the citizen in the event of a health emergency.

Sicily Safe for tourists

Over 38 thousand people have downloaded “SiciliaSiCura” so far. The app, designed initially to monitor who was in quarantine, has changed its skin since 8 June. And it is dedicated to tourists who come to the island on vacation, therefore without a reference doctor. In case of symptoms, through the app you can contact the (Tourist Assistance Continuity Health Unit) that deal with the monitoring, taking charge and assistance of any suspected cases from Covid-19 among non-residents or domiciled on the Island.
