A number of scientific papers have already been published on the corona virus – but the results are sometimes questionable.
The Reuters news agency has undertaken published studies on the corona virus and has doubts that they are all correct. Scientific papers are usually carefully checked by other researchers before they are printed. Because quick solutions are required for the corona virus, many studies are initially published unchecked – and everyone can access them. According to Reuters, more than 150 virus studies have already been published. But almost two-thirds of them had not previously been critically reviewed.
Several jobs have since been withdrawn, including one that found that the corona virus resembled HIV. Reuters warns that the unchecked, flawed studies can spread quickly and cause panic. Apparently, the pace of publications has increased in recent years. When the SARS virus broke out in 2003, fewer studies were published and it took much longer to publish.
