In Italy there are 365,467 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic: +5,901 compared to yesterday when they were +4,619 (+5,456 on 11 October). The number of deaths rises to 36,246: +45 compared to yesterday when they were +39 (+26 the previous day). Swabs processed in the last 24 hours were 112,544: up from 85,442 yesterday (they were 104,658 on 11 October). This is what emerges from the data of the Ministry of Health and Civil Protection.

The healed continue to grow, reaching 242,028 (+1,428). The number of currently positives rises, which are now 87,193 (+4,429). The pressure on hospitals is also growing with the number of hospitalized patients returning to 5,076 (+255) – we must go back to last June 7 to find a similar figure: then they were 4,864 – and that of patients in intensive care which also rises to 514 (+62, with the highest rise in Lombardy: +12). The positives in home isolation are 81,603 (+4,112).

Regions with the highest number of infections

While Basilicata recorded the lowest number of infections (8 out of 1,201 swabs), the greatest number of new infections is concentrated in Lombardy with 1,080 positive out of 17,186 swabs. Followed by Campania with 635 positives on 7,720 swabs, Piedmont with 585 positives on 9,182 swabs, Lazio with 579 positives out of 15,408 swabs.
