The health pass comes into force in France

The health pass entered into force in France this Monday, where citizens are forced to adapt to a new normal, at least until next November 15, by presenting a document that prove your vaccination or a negative coronavirus test to enter bars and cafes, among others.

This morning, calmer than usual because it was Monday and the beginning of August, some citizens made queue in front of the door of a pharmacy in the north of Paris, who prepared early access to the antigen tests, currently covered by social security.

Diagnostic tests, which must date from the Previous 72 hours, will also be valid as certificate to be able to access from today to cafes, bars, restaurants, but also trains, planes and other long-distance transport, hospitals, nursing homes and other places that welcome the public.

This is due to the enactment last Friday of the new health law of the French government, which seeks to encourage vaccination, stalled since the end of June due to the passivity or opposition of a part of the population. In theaters, cinemas, museums and other cultural and sports halls, the pass was already mandatory since July 21.

In some bars, the waiters complained about having to act like policemen, but they resigned themselves. “We have no alternative,” they agreed. At the entrance, before taking a seat, the staff approaches the customers who must present a QR code that shows a complete vaccination schedule, a medical document that certifies having passed the disease in the previous six months or a negative test of the previous 72 hours.

Last Saturday, more than 230,000 opponents to the pass, according to figures from the Ministry of the Interior, they took to the streets of the country to protest against the measure, that qualify as liberticide and accuse the Government of imposing dictatorial practices. The text was approved in the parliamentary chambers and then passed through the filter of the Constitutional Council, which ensures respect for the legislation of the Magna Carta.

Nowadays 44.7 million people in France have received at least one dose of the vaccine from the start of the campaign to the end of December, the 66,4 % of the total population, and 37.2 million already have the complete guideline, 55.2%.
