Coronavirus in France: 35 new deaths, 29,813 dead since the start of the epidemic

After the second round of municipal elections, the coronavirus epidemic was brought under control but still killed in France. This Monday, the latest assessment of the Directorate General of Health reports 35 new deaths in hospital since last Friday. A total of 29,813 since March 1, including in the Ehpad.

8,688 people are hospitalized for an infection and 102 new admissions were registered in 24 hours. 619 patients with a severe form of the disease are still hospitalized in intensive care. 15 new serious cases were admitted to intensive care. The balance remains negative in intensive care, with 15 patients of Covid-19 less compared to Friday. 4 regions (Ile-de-France, Grand-Est, Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, Hauts-de-France) account for 74% of patients hospitalized in intensive care.

In Guyana, the circulation of the virus remains a concern. Health authorities are mobilized to slow the spread of the epidemic, identify clusters and break the chains of contamination. An A400 M military aircraft, engaged on the spot to relieve the congestion of the resuscitation services, made it possible to carry out a first medical evacuation. Two patients were thus transferred to Guadeloupe. Other medical evacuations, in the planning stages, will take place in the coming days.

293 clusters since May 9

In the rest of the national territory, the epidemiological situation is stable. The health authorities remain particularly attentive to the appearance of large groupings of cases or of a possible rebound.

The virus continues to circulate on the territory, as shown by the number of new “clusters”, 293 cases grouped since May 9, including 7 new, 167 closed since.

Since the start of the epidemic, 104,482 people have been hospitalized, including 18,366 in intensive care. 75,999 people returned home. 29,813 people have died in France since the start of the epidemic, including 19,325 people in hospitals. The mortality figures relating to social and medico-social establishments will be updated by Santé publique France on June 30.
