Coronavirus hits Argentina: record death toll and almost 5,000 new infections

Argentina has confirmed this Monday a new record of deaths from covid-19 in the country, a total of 166, and 4,824 new positives, according to the latest data released by the Ministry of Health of the Latin American country.

The new figures have raised Argentina’s balance to 3,813 deaths from covid-19 and 206,743 infections, according to the Argentine news agency Télam.

87.2 percent, 4,209 people in total, of the infected confirmed this Monday correspond to the city and the province of Buenos Aires, the epicenter of the pandemic in the country. Specifically, the province of Buenos Aires has registered 3,158 additional cases, while 1,051 have been recorded in the city.

Likewise, the Argentine Ministry of Health has indicated that 1,150 people are admitted to intensive care units and that the percentage of occupation of hospital beds stands at 55.5 percent, which rises to 65 percent in the Area Metropolitan of Buenos Aires.
