Coronavirus has already claimed more victims than SARS in 2002-03. Death toll rises to 811 – Today

On Saturday, the National Health Commission of China had announced 722 deaths from the outbreak of the new coronavirus.

According to the Commission, by the end of Saturday there were 6,188 serious cases, while 2,649 people were discharged.

The authorities monitored 371,905 people who were in contact with the infected, 188,183 of whom are still under observation.

Today there were 89 more deaths compared to Saturday’s numbers due to the 2019-nCoV virus, with an epicenter in the Chinese city of Wuhan, in central Hubei province.

SARS – Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome has caused 774 deaths worldwide.

In addition to the mainland of China and the Chinese regions of Macau and Hong Kong, there are other confirmed cases of infection in more than 20 countries.

On January 30, the World Health Organization declared an international public health emergency situation, which implies the adoption of preventive and coordinating measures worldwide.

Infected people can transmit the disease during the incubation period, which varies between one day and two weeks, without the virus being detected.
