This is the beginning of the message posted on Facebook Sunday evening by the PLR deputy and president of GastroVaud, Gilles Meystre. At a time when several cantons decide to close off public establishments due to the coronavirus pandemic (Jura, Neuchâtel in particular), Vaud has not yet taken this decision. And so it is the industry professionals who are launching an appeal.
The reasons mentioned by Gilles Meystre are as well sanitary, practical, economic as financial, he says. And the solidarity of certain circles, in particular real estate, must arise to postpone, or at least reduce, the rents of closed establishments. On Sunday, several restaurateurs had themselves decided to close until further notice. This is particularly the case of the Café des Artisans which published a video where the two tenants explained their decision. The Montriond and the 13th century did the same. The teams at Brasserie de Montbenon, Saint-Pierre and café de Grancy also decided to throw in the towel. And demand official measures. This list is not exhaustive and it is a safe bet that others will make this decision in the hours and days to come. For the moment, bars and restaurants (except night establishments, completely closed) are limited to 10 p.m.
