The toll of the coronavirus epidemic was revised down Monday to at least 28,022 dead, due to revised figures down in residential care facilities for dependent elderly (Ehpad) and medico-social establishments, according to the Directorate General of Health.
In its data as of May 19 on the government site, the DGS indicates 10,308 deaths in the Ehpad, against 10,650 on Monday. When questioned, the DGS clarified that this new figure “results from adjustments in the reporting of data from the Regional Health Agencies”.
The number of deaths in hospitals rose to 17,714, 125 more than Monday.
