– One cat was positive in a new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) test conducted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government on companion animals.

According to the city of Seoul on the 15th, one cat, a companion animal of the confirmed family’s family, was confirmed the day before as a result of the Corona 19 test.

As cases of infection of companion animals have been confirmed in Korea, the city of Seoul has been conducting Corona 19 tests on companion animals, dogs and cats, since the 8th. A total of 4 dogs (3 dogs and 1 cat) were tested so far, of which 1 cat was tested positive.

The confirmed cat was a 4-5 year old female and had vomiting and decreased activity. All the family members of the guardians were confirmed, and they were transferred to a temporary shelter from the 10th and were in a state of protection. Seoul City collected a sample of a cat at a temporary shelter on the 13th, and tested it at the Animal Hygiene Test Center at the Seoul Institute of Health and Environment. The first positive case of a companion animal is subject to a second test at the Agriculture, Forestry and Livestock Quarantine Headquarters, so the city of Seoul transferred the sample to the quarantine headquarters for a second test. The second test result was also positive, and it was finally confirmed.

The cat was moved to the Seoul Animal Welfare Support Center (Guro) and is being quarantined. The quarantine period is 14 days from the date of confirmation. Considering that the cat is in good condition, the city of Seoul plans to conduct a detailed examination if there are no clinical symptoms after observing the symptoms in the future, and remove quarantine if negative.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government said, “The cats that have been confirmed this time are protected by the’Seoul Animal Welfare Support Center’ because all of the family members are confirmed and cannot be cared for,” he said. “If you have a guardian, you must quarantine and protect it at home.”

“In overseas cases, there is no evidence that Corona 19 is spread from companion animals to humans, so there is no need to be too anxious.” “For the safety of citizens and animals, keep a distance of 2m or more from other people and animals, and mask He asked to follow the quarantine rules, such as wearing and washing hands thoroughly.”

On the 10th, the city of Seoul conducted the city’s first corona19 test on a dog of a family of a confirmed patient in Gangbuk-gu. The dog is a breed of Cocaspaniel, and was tested after showing symptoms such as runny nose and fever in an epidemiological investigation. The symptoms of Corona 19 in animals are fever, cough, shortness of breath, increased eye and nasal discharge, vomiting, and diarrhea, and most do not have any special symptoms.

The city animal moving sample collection team moved to the neighborhood of the confirmed person’s home, and the dog was moved to a moving sample collection vehicle, and the veterinarian conducted the examination. Samples were collected from the nose and rectum.

Meanwhile, the city has temporarily protected companion animals of corona19 confirmed families through six designated animal hospitals in the city for about a year from last year. The facility protects animals that have not been infected with Corona 19. Last year, 105 of them went to temporary shelters.
