The coronavirus pandemic continues to travel at incredible rates. In the world, the threshold of 30 million cases is now approaching. A figure that only a few months ago we would have considered science fiction. The United States continues to hold the numerical record of infections with 6,559,712 positive people and 194,836 deaths but if we compare the data with the number of inhabitants then Israel is at the top of the ranking with 162,273 cases, 1,141 deaths and 5 thousand infections recorded yesterday. So much so that Netanyahu has decided to impose un according to a lockdown of at least three weeks which will start at 2pm on Friday 18 September on the occasion of New Year’s Eve and which will end on 10 October for the Simcha ‘Torah festival.

India, which the second most affected country, is now about to exceed 5 million cases of which 83,809 registered yesterday. A budget that risks worsening further and quickly also as a consequence of the lack of oxygen in several Indian hospitals, in particular in the capital New Delhi and in the state of Madhya Pradesh. Brazil follows with 4,345,610 cases and Russia with 1,069,873.

In Europe it leads the ranking of infections the Spain (603.167) which yesterday exceeded 30 thousand dead, followed by the France (437.983) and the United Kingdom (373.565) which banned gatherings, even at home, with more than six people. In Ireland the government is in precautionary isolation due to the suspected infection of the Minister of Health, Stephen Donnelly, feeling unwell after a cabinet meeting.

And let’s come to Italy where yesterday the infections were slightly increasing (who the last bulletin): 1,229 against 1,008 on Monday for a total of 289,990 cases, a positive figure if we consider that the tampons had practically doubled compared to the day before, going from 45,309 to 80,517. The region most affected is the Lombardy with 176 cases, followed by Liguria (141), Lazio (139) and Campania (136).

On the good news front there is to be registered the success of Australia which, yesterday, for the first time in two months, had no victims of the virus. The authorities now hope to throw the second wave that has hit the country behind them. Yesterday there were 50 positives especially in the State of Victoria where 75% of Covid-19 cases have occurred. Hong Kong is also hoping to be off the ford after that out of two million swabs only 42 infected people came out. From Friday the theme parks and swimming pools will be reopened.
