The diplomat said the quarantine will be until February 14 and the crew are confined to their rooms. “The cruise usually stops in Yokohama and people walk around Tokyo, which is an hour away, and then continues its route to other places in Asia (…) The authorities are very careful and this is controlled. That families are calm, there is no knowledge of a single Peruvian with the disease ”, he told RPP News.

Japan, the country that houses 45,000 Peruvians, has 89 confirmed cases of Wuhan coronavirus. It is believed that the disease “entered” the cruise after a stop in Tokyo during the itinerary.

It is not the only cruise ship that has been harmed. Thousands of travelers and crew are confined to two cruises in Asia, 3,700 people are locked in their cabins.

In Hong Kong, some 3,600 people suffer the same fate in the “World Dream”, after three people who were passengers on the ship tested positive. According to a statement from the Japanese authorities, another cruise, the “Westerdam”, is heading to Japan with at least one confirmed case on board.

As recalled, the National Health Commission of China raised the number of fatalities to 722 and 34,546 infected. Of which 6,101 patients are in serious condition.
