The coronavirus in Belgium is the subject of a daily health report produced by the Belgian public health institute (Sciensano) from the collection of information from hospitals in the country. The figures for new confirmed cases, hospital admissions and discharges and deaths provide a view of the evolution of the epidemic in our country.
SANITARY ASSESSMENT
The Belgian public health institute (Sciensano) communicated this Friday April 10 in the morning the health report of the coronavirus in Belgium for the last 24 hours.
Confirmed cases
New confirmed cases: 1,684
Total: 26,667
The number of people screened does not, however, reflect the actual number of people infected with the coronavirus in Belgium, since only the people most seriously affected are screened.
Hospitalizations
Entries: 462
Releases: 404
5,610 people hospitalized at the moment (+20). A total of 1,278 patients are treated in intensive care (-7), including on a ventilator.
Death
New: 496 (325 + 171 deaths in nursing homes notified between March 18 and 31)
Total: 3,019
Hospital deaths are notified by hospitals and relate only to Covid-19 deaths confirmed with PCR test.
Extra-hospital deaths (nursing homes, homes, other places) are notified by regional authorities and represent confirmed and possible deaths. The possible deaths relate to patients who were not tested for Covid-19, but who met the clinical criteria for the disease according to the doctor. This is the case for the vast majority of people who die outside the hospital setting.
