Before the corona crisis, Hotelkamerveiling.nl grew into a popular site on which hotel rooms were auctioned. The winning bid was often much lower than the rate for a regular reservation.
For hotels, the site was attractive to still earn some money if a room threatened to remain empty. The site’s motto was an unsold room is a loss forever (an unrented room is a loss forever).
Neck impact
Due to the lockdown periods during the corona crisis, the hotels had to close and the demand for short trips shrank drastically. Those circumstances proved to be the final blow for hotelkamerveiling.nl.
Bankruptcy was declared Friday. Customers who have money outstanding with the company can report this to curator Erick Quaars. He reports on the site that there is still nothing to say about the chance of restitution, because he does not yet have an overview of all creditors.
