Six employees of the surgery department of the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) have been diagnosed with corona, the Leiden hospital reports Friday. The healthcare staff have been in close contact with five patients. These patients have been informed by the LUMC and the GGD and remain in quarantine for ten days at home or in hospital as a precaution.
Close contact means that the employees were less than five feet away from the patient for more than 15 minutes in the 48 hours before the corona symptoms started.
After it became known that there was corona among the staff, the LUMC conducted source and contact research. According to the LUMC, extra measures have been taken in the relevant surgery department.
