Corona virus originated in the laboratory – Südtirol News

Paris – It sounds like a wild conspiracy theory – and yet the French virologist Luc Montagnier said it openly during a television discussion in front of cameras: The insidious corona virus, which is currently keeping the whole world in suspense, is a chimera, i.e. an artificially generated one in the laboratory Virus. Parts of HIV have been built into harmless corona viruses. The catch is: Montagnier is not just anyone. In 2008, the professor for HIV research won the Nobel Prize.

In a television discussion, Montagnier claimed that he and a colleague, while studying the new coronavirus, found RNA sequences from the HI virus that could not have naturally become part of SARS-CoV-2. Molecular tools are required to insert an HIV sequence into the genome, “and that can only be done in a laboratory,” said Montagnier.

An Indian team of researchers came to the same conclusion and also found HIV-RNA sequences in the novel corona virus. However, the team came under pressure and withdrew the paper. As a Nobel laureate, however, he was much less restricted, said Montagnier during the discussion.

The “Wuhan Lab”, the virological institute of the University of Wuhan (WIV), is a hot candidate for the virus. When asked why someone should construct such a virus, the virologist replied that he did not know that. However, he speculated. His hypothesis is that scientists from China and the United States may have researched an AIDS vaccine – and then the virus escaped.

It sounds like a thriller script. Nevertheless, there are plausible indications that Montagnier’s statements do not completely deny. In 2011, researchers from the Wuhan Lab, along with US and Australian colleagues, caught bats in the Kunming Caves in Yunnan Province in southern China, which harbored 27 previously unknown viruses. All viruses were similar to the SARS virus, reports heise.de.

In 2013, the researchers published their findings in the journal “Nature” on the isolation of a SARS-like virus that uses the protein “prongs” on its corona “crown” for docking with human ACE2 receptors.

The viruses were then isolated, multiplied and then placed in various media such as bat cells, mouse cells or human cells. It was observed how they change to adapt to the new host. On November 9, 2015 an article about it appeared in “Nature Medicine”: “A SARS-like cluster of circulating bat coronaviruses shows potential for human emergence”.

On March 30, 2020, Nature’s editors added, “We noticed that this article is used as the basis for unverified theories that the new coronavirus that caused COVID-19 was artificially produced. There is no evidence that this is true; Scientists believe that an animal is the most likely source of the coronavirus. “

“Controversial” Nobel Laureate

Montagnier also received criticism in France for his statements. The newspaper “Le Monde” described the Nobel laureate as “controversial” because, among other things, he spoke out against vaccinations and represented the “nonsense” to treat viruses with electromagnetic waves. Le Monde also quotes an Australian expert who claims that there is too little resemblance to the sequence of the HIV virus “to conclude that there has been a significant exchange of genetic material.”

However, the article from Nature Medicine proves that viruses from the southern Chinese caves were genetically engineered. According to heise.de, a group led by Professor Zhengli Shi from the Wuhan laboratory found out in 2008 how a naturally occurring bat coronavirus can be made to infect human cells by modifying the spike protein. The study also documents that HIV genetic material was used for the experiments.

Nature does not tolerate everything

This is not clear evidence of Montagnier’s assumption that a vaccine against the immune deficiency AIDS may have been worked on in the “Wuhan Labs”. What is interesting, however, is what doctors and researchers noticed when treating Covid-19 patients: The SARS-CoV-2 attacks the T cells of the immune system in a similar way to HIV.

Does this expose the fish market in Wuhan as the origin of the corona virus as a legend? Unless there is a leak, scientists and especially governments will be careful not to take responsibility for the disaster of the pandemic. If Montagnier’s statements are correct, there is hope.

In his view, nature does not accept everything. Man can do anything with her. However, an artificial construction has little chance of survival. “Nature loves harmonious things. What does not correspond to this, such as a virus that has been combined with another virus, is not simply tolerated, ”said the virologist during the television discussion.

In the United States, where there are most cases, the virus has already mutated: the suspected HIV sequence in the coronavirus mutates faster than the other components, which ultimately leads to its disappearance, explains the virologist. To put it loosely, this means that SARS-CoV-2 could eventually become a harmless coronavirus that only causes a cold.

In the meantime, however, Italian researchers have also spoken out who contest Montagnier’s theory.
