Corona vaccination: information letters for people over 80 in Hamburg | NDR.de – news

Status: 14.01.2021 07:43 a.m.

Those who are 80 years or older will receive mail from the city of Hamburg these days: In the letter, the social authority informs about the corona vaccinations and calls for an appointment to be made for the vaccination center in the exhibition halls.

From Thursday on there will be free appointments again at the vaccination center – but there won’t be that many in the coming weeks. The social authority asks for patience. That will probably not change for a month, because until then a lot of vaccine will be needed for the nursing homes. If you want to make an appointment, you can call the doctor on 116117 or online make – all important information is in the letter from the city. The vaccination appointments will be given until February 15th and should probably be booked out quickly.

Leonhard: “Everyone gets their vaccination”

Social Senator Melanie Leonhard (SPD) asked for understanding in the event that an appointment does not work out straight away. Then you shouldn’t be discouraged and try again later. “Everyone gets their vaccination, but at the beginning it will go step by step,” said Leonhard in the Hamburg Journal of NDR television.

AWO offers support in case of difficulties

The AWO offers an extra service for pensioners who do not have a computer or who have difficulties booking online. The AWO has activated their own telephone number for them: 0800 – 28 436 28. In principle, it has been possible for days to make a vaccination appointment if you are over 80. What is new is that the official information letters are now also being sent.

Still no solution for bedridden people

There is still no solution for bedridden or demented people who are cared for at home and cannot come to the vaccination center. You will likely not be vaccinated until a vaccine has been released that does not require complicated storage and can be injected by general practitioners.
