The designated hospital is in Groningen, according to the explanation. “After consultation with the University Medical Center Groningen, that hospital is willing to take in some patients who, in accordance with the advice of the GGD and the RIVM, cannot remain in isolation at home.”

The chairman of a security region can decide that forced isolation is necessary. The Netherlands has 25 security regions. The chairman is often the mayor of one of the larger cities in such a region.
