In residential care center Nieuw Mellens in Leeuwarden, 19 residents are infected with the corona virus. Two employees also have the virus among the members.
The protocol was immediately put into effect to prevent further spread. The residents infected with corona live in quarantine and care for this group is provided by a fixed group of care workers. It is still unclear whether there is the British variant.
It is not possible to visit the De Fjild wing, the place where the corona outbreak took place. This is possible in the other departments.
All residents who wanted this and where that was possible, received the first corona vaccination on January 29. They will soon receive the second vaccination.
Nieuw Mellens is a residential care location aimed at residents with a certain form of dementia.
