Medical President Reinhardt calls for a “clear plan for the fall”
The President of the German Medical Association, Klaus Reinhardt, has called for a clear Corona plan for the fall. This must be designed immediately, he told the Bremen “Weser-Kurier”. Another lockdown or a mask requirement indoors are not the appropriate means of dealing with a new impending corona wave after the summer. “We have to concentrate much more precisely on the groups that are seriously at risk,” said Reinhardt before the start of the German Doctors’ Day in Bremen tomorrow. For example, daily PCR tests of certain population groups are conceivable. Another point is the securing and availability of therapies that are now available for Covid-19.
A key topic of the four-day Doctors’ Day is the psychosocial consequences of the Corona measures for children and young people. “In the pandemic, children and young people are not only at risk from infections, but above all from lockdowns, school and daycare closures and social isolation,” said Reinhardt. In this context, the Doctors President called for additional educational offers and support measures in addition to the school as well as the development and expansion of social offers in order to be able to absorb at least parts of the problems that have arisen.
The mental and physical health of children and young people has suffered greatly during the pandemic. About three percent develop long-Covid symptoms. more

DGB boss Fahimi for a legal right to home office
Yasmin Fahimi, the new head of the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB), has called for a permanent legal right to work from home. Many companies had had very good experiences with the working model during the corona pandemic. It is difficult to assess whether there will be an obligation to work from home again in the fall, but a permanent right to work from home – even regardless of the pandemic – makes sense, as Fahimi said in an interview with the newspapers of the “Funke Mediengruppe”. . For some employees, too much home office is a burden, others would like to work more from home. “They shouldn’t be forced back into the business,” she demanded. There has to be a good balance. With a view to the autumn, the union leader expressed concern: “I find it short-sighted that the federal government is now so easily letting the Corona occupational safety regulation expire. I don’t know how we should deal with another lockdown.”

RKI: Incidence in Hamburg is 273.4
A downward trend can also be observed in Hamburg for the seven-day incidence: The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) has given the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within one week as 273.4 today. A week ago the value was 478.2. New corona cases were not transmitted to the RKI from the Hanseatic city.
Because the Hamburg social authority stopped publishing the corona data on a daily basis at the beginning of May, the NDR now publishes the current figures from the RKI in the corona ticker every day. The health authority of the Hanseatic city only gives an update on the seven-day incidence and the hospital utilization once a week – on Tuesdays. These data and values may deviate from those of the RKI.

Lower Saxony: According to the RKI, the incidence drops to 418.2
The corona seven-day incidence in Lower Saxony continues to fall: According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), it is now 418.2 – last Monday it was given as 596.1. It should be noted, however, that the country did not transmit any numbers of new infections to the RKI at the weekend – this will be done today, so that the numbers for tomorrow should contain late reports.

Only one new corona case reported in Schleswig-Holstein
The state registration office in Schleswig-Holstein only reported one new corona case for the federal state within 24 hours – in Neumünster. It should be taken into account, however, that all other districts and independent cities did not transmit any figures to the country at the weekend. As always, late registrations can be expected in the coming days. The seven-day incidence of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in Schleswig-Holstein is 493.2 – a week ago it was 638.9.

Blood supplies are becoming scarce in the north – donors are being sought
The consequences of the recent high rate of corona infections are also causing problems for the blood donation services in the north: infected people or those who have had contact with people who have tested positive for the virus are temporarily not allowed to donate blood. For this reason, but also because of the currently beautiful weather, fewer people are reportedly donating blood. It is urgently needed for upcoming operations – treatments that have been postponed will be made up for in addition to normal operations. The supply situation with blood preparations is tense, according to the German Red Cross. “The daily supplies are falling and have been at a very low level for several weeks,” said Susanne von Rabenau, spokeswoman for the DRK blood donation service North-East, the German Press Agency. The blood donation service urgently appeals to all healthy people to attend the blood donation appointments offered by the DRK in order to be able to ensure patient care.

Consequences of the Corona crisis: Shipbuilding industry reports on the current situation
Overshadowed by the still uncertain prospects, the German Shipbuilding and Marine Technology Association (VSM) reports today on the current situation in the German shipyard industry. The central topic is “the role of the maritime industry in averting strategic dependencies,” announced the association. Behind this is the concern that after container ships and freighters, further parts of shipbuilding could move from Germany and Europe to Asia. The German shipbuilding industry lost orders to a dramatic extent during the Corona crisis.

RKI: 1,245 new corona cases nationwide – incidence at 312.1
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported 1,245 new infections within 24 hours early in the morning – on Monday a week ago there were 2,305. However, according to the RKI, only the states of Berlin (118), North Rhine-Westphalia (1,126) and Schleswig-Holstein (1) have reported new numbers. As usual, late registrations from the other countries can be expected tomorrow after the weekend. According to the RKI, the nationwide seven-day incidence fell from 322.4 the day before to currently 312.1. Another person died nationwide in connection with the corona virus. This increases the number of reported deaths to 138,326.
Comparisons of the numbers and data are only possible to a limited extent due to the test behavior, late registrations or transmission problems. In general, the number of registered new infections and deaths varies significantly from weekday to weekday, since more and more federal states do not transmit to the RKI, especially at weekends, and report their cases later in the week.
