Late effects after infection even in children

It is difficult to say how many children in Germany have now had a coronavirus infection. Models assume up to 80 percent. But the number of unreported cases is high, also because the disease course is often mild and the tests in children are even worse than in adults. Especially in slightly older children there are also cases of late effects, even with weak symptoms, for example in a 13-year-old from Lower Saxony who can only go to school by the hour due to persistent exhaustion.

Scholz reintroduces mask requirements into government aircraft

On Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s flights, masks are again mandatory on government planes. After criticism that wearing masks was only advised on a trip to Canada, the Chancellery has again tightened the crown rules for today’s head of government’s trip to Prague. “Given the public debate in recent days, the Federal Chancellery has decided to make the use of masks during the flight mandatory, in addition to the current PCR test,” a government spokesman said on request. Test regulations have also been tightened. In addition to a PCR test no more than 24 hours before departure, all passengers also had to take a quick test before check-in.

The intensive care doctor Marx for greater use of the drug Paxlovid

The president of the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine, Gernot Marx, has advocated greater use of the drug Paxlovid to counteract severe Covid 19 diseases. “Actually I believe that the stronger treatment with this drug it could help fewer coronary patients with a severe course to be treated in intensive care units, ”Marx told media group Funke newspapers. The study data indicated that administration of Paxlovid, especially at the beginning of an infection, could prevent a severe course. “If drug treatment is indicated and the patient desires it, doctors should do it more than before.” At the same time, President Divi called on the Standing Commission on Vaccinations to quickly define clear rules for new vaccines against corona variants.

MV: The Minister of Health Drese presents the corona vaccination plans for the autumn

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is preparing another vaccination campaign for the long-awaited Corona autumn. Mobile teams should go to seniors and nursing homes to offer booster vaccinations. Health Minister Stefanie Drese (SPD) wants to present the details at noon. RKI: The seven-day incidences continue to decrease in the north as well

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), seven-day incidences fell even further north: to 254.1 in Schleswig-Holstein (previous week: 325.1), to 285.2 in Lower Saxony (previous week: 323 , 1), 151.9 in Hamburg (198.5), 320.9 in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (previous week: 378.5) and 275.4 in the state of Bremen (331.7).

The usual daily reporting of the number of cases is no longer needed today. Many federal states do not report at all or not completely over the weekend. RKI. The data published on Monday are therefore very limited in their importance.

RKI: the seven-day incidence nationwide drops to 242.8

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported the nationwide seven-day incidence as 242.8. A week ago, the number of new corona infections per 100,000 population was 282.2.

Note on current numbers: The incidence values do not provide a complete picture of the infectious situation. Experts assume a large number of cases not registered by RKI, mainly because not all infected people have performed a PCR test. However, only positive PCR tests are included in the official statistics. Furthermore, delayed recordings or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values. In general, the number of new infections recorded varies significantly from weekday to weekday, as many federal states do not report them to RKI, especially on weekends, and report their cases throughout the week.
