RKI registers 161,718 new corona infections – incidence at 733.4
The nationwide seven-day incidence has risen again compared to the previous day. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gives the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week this morning at 733.4. The previous day the value was 720.6, last Friday it was 1,001.5 (previous month: 1,733.4). The health authorities in Germany reported 161,718 new corona infections to the RKI within one day. A week ago there were 156,864 registered infections. According to the new information, 289 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. The number of people who have died from or involved a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic has risen to 133,921.
When considering the values, it must be taken into account that individual states do not report data every weekday, and at weekends, for example, Baden-Württemberg, Lower Saxony, Brandenburg and Saxony do not, or only partially, report data. This in turn leads to late registrations on the following days. A comparison of daily values is therefore becoming increasingly difficult. In addition, experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI – due to overworked health authorities and because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only these count in the statistics.

Incidence in Schleswig-Holstein increased slightly
The seven-day incidence in Schleswig-Holstein has risen to 982.7 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants. The day before, the figure had been 981.0. The number of reported new infections is currently 6,825, after 10,084 the day before. According to the information, there are 553 patients in clinics related to the corona virus. Of them, 47 are being treated in an intensive care unit and 23 are being ventilated. The number of people who died in connection with a corona infection is 2,403 (+8). The number of new corona sufferers admitted to hospitals per 100,000 people within a week (hospitalization incidence) is given as 5.05 (previous day: 4.12).
