Corona news: Rutte hopes for a normal Christmas, but ‘absolutely no guarantees’

The cabinet will again give more support to entrepreneurs who have been affected by the corona measures. The NOW wage support scheme is returning: companies will be reimbursed part of the wage bill if their turnover drops significantly.

The allowance for fixed costs (TVL) was already available in the fourth quarter, but entrepreneurs are now reimbursed 100 percent of the estimated fixed costs, instead of 85 percent.

The expansion of the aid will cost about 2.2 billion euros, the Ministry of Economic Affairs said. The return of wage support, in the form of ‘NOW 5’, will cost about 1.5 billion euros. Companies can be reimbursed 85 percent of the wage costs.

The Ministry of Social Affairs hopes that employers can knock on the door for the wage subsidy before the end of the year.
