Corona news: pediatricians disagree about vaccinating children under 12

The European health service ECDC counted 182 confirmed infections with the Omikron variant of the corona virus on Sunday. That is sixteen more than Saturday. It only concerns the infections in the European Union and the so-called European Economic Area.

Portugal has the most Omikron infections in the European area with 34 confirmed cases, followed by Norway(19), the Netherlands (18), Denmark (18) and France (16). The other countries where Omikron has been established are Germany, Belgium, Austria, Czech Republic, Finland, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Romania, Spain and Sweden.

The people with Omikron have recently been to southern Africa, where the worrisome strain was discovered last month. The ECDC reports that as far as is known, the entire group has no or mild complaints. No reports have been received about people who have died after being infected with the new virus variant.
