Since the end of January, the federal government has been assuming the costs of “repetitive mass tests” – for example, regular spit tests in which the entire workforce is tested, even without any previous infections in the company. Implementation is the responsibility of the cantons. In Zurich, organizations that want to take part in the mass tests first submit an application, which must be approved by the cantonal medical service. In a media release, the canton writes that mass tests are made possible where people are exposed to a high risk of transmission, for example in companies with close customer or employee contact.
