In the city Offenbach the incidence increased from 166.9 to 175.3 compared to Wednesday (March 17, 2021). With 49 instead of 46 infections, the number of new infections rose slightly. Also in Offenbach district there was a clear increase. The Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs recorded 115 new infections here, on Wednesday (March 17, 2021) the number was 94. The incidence number also rose from 129.8 to 139.6. In the Odenwald district the incidence rose slightly from 55.9 to 61.0. In the district Darmstadt-Dieburg (66.1 to 69.5) and in the Bergstrasse district (94.3 to 99.1) the numbers also rose, and im Main-Kinzig district (119.9 to 116.8) the number fell slightly. For the city Hanau the incidence number on Thursday (March 18, 2021) was 122. Compared to Wednesday (March 17, 2021) the number has decreased from 139.

The health department of Main-Kinzig district has confirmed 113 for Wednesday (March 17, 2021) New infections recorded with the Sars-CoV-2 virus and another death Hanau. The incidence is 122. For the city Offenbach the local health department reports 46 new corona cases. The incidence is rising again and is 173.5. The health department in Odenwaldkreis states that there were 16 new positive corona test results in the district. No new deaths were reported. The Robert Koch Institute has not yet reported any figures for Thursday (March 18, 2021). The region was on Wednesday (March 17th, 2021) Offenbach however, it is still the region in Hessen. The level of infection of the Coronavirus stay in Offenbach and the region is relatively high. Especially in the city Offenbachthat with a 7 day incidence of 167.3 still the highest value in the whole Hessen recorded. If the incidence should rise above 200, drastic measures are threatened in Offenbach.
New corona infections in Hanau, Offenbach, Darmstadt
The increasing numbers of infections with the are particularly alarming Coronavirus in schools in the region Offenbach. The health department head of the Main-Kinzig district, Susanne Simmler (SPD), spoke of “an enormous growth in the number of cases in the areas of education and care that we have to react to.” In many schools, the emergency brake has therefore already been pulled: im Main-Kinzig district and the city of Hanau was the next step in opening schools because of the Coronavirus postponed. There should be no return to face-to-face teaching at first.
At individual schools in the region Offenbach, Hanau and Darmstadt parents have already called for a boycott, for example at the Melibokus School in Alsbach-Hähnlein (Darmstadt-Dieburg district). The reason given was, among other things: “A serious corona test strategy as a basis for the opening steps is missing.” In addition, distance teaching is “significantly negatively influenced: our children receive fewer lessons as a result.”

Corona in the Offenbach region: Strong outbreaks in schools
The announced corona rapid tests for schools in the region Offenbach, Hanau and Darmstadt as in Hessen come after the Easter break, as emerged from the government statement by Prime Minister Volker Bouffier (CDU) on Tuesday. On Friday, Minister of Culture Alexander Lorz (CDU), together with the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KV), wants a “test mobile” for Corona-Imagine outbreaks in schools. Most recently, Lorz announced that “every student should attend school on at least one day per week”.
