Corona in Offenbach/Hanau/Darmstadt: incidence and current case numbers

The Omikron wave has a firm grip on the region around Offenbach, Hanau and Darmstadt. The incidence in the district of Offenbach has recently increased significantly.

Offenbach/Hanau/Darmstadt – The Omikron wave is currently hitting the region around Offenbach, Hanau and Darmstadt with full force. Since the turn of the year, the number of corona cases has increased again. Some regions in southern Hesse are currently also considered a corona hotspot due to persistently high incidences. The current case numbers can be found at the end of the text.

A crucial way out of the pandemic is vaccination against the coronavirus. Especially corona vaccinations for children are currently in high demand. Since December 2021, children from the age of five can also be vaccinated. A nationwide vaccination obligation has recently been repeatedly discussed, but not implemented.

Corona in Offenbach, Darmstadt and Hanau: Critical infrastructure is gearing up against Omikron

Since the beginning of the fourth wave and the rapid spread of the Omikron variant, the critical infrastructure in the region around Offenbach, Hanau and Darmstadt has also been set up for emergencies. Shift groups in the police, fire brigade, medical and municipal care are separated from each other in order to be able to quickly break infection chains.

Since September 2021, in addition to the corona incidence, there have been two other indicators that are used to assess the infection situation in the country – the hospitalization incidence (or rate) and the utilization of intensive care beds. According to the RKI, the hospitalization incidence in Hesse is currently 6.72 (data as of 09.02.2022, previous week: 6.02). The figure describes the number of patients admitted to Hessian hospitals for Covid-19 within one week per 100,000 inhabitants according to DIVI-Intensive Register currently (as of 10.02.2022, 06.25) 204 patients with Covid-19 are being treated in intensive care units in Hesse. According to IVENA software, 1,207 Covid patients were on the normal wards (as of: 06.02.2022, 11 a.m.).
