Corona in Munich: Incidence rises to over 500 – Munich

The Omikron variant has become the dominant virus variant in Munich. As the city reports, the health department has recorded 3812 suspected Omicron cases in the past two weeks – more than three times as many as infections with the other variants (1243), most of them Delta (as of Monday).

Associated with this, the seven-day incidence in the city is also rising rapidly. On Friday it was 305, on Monday 476.9 – and on Tuesday it was 532.45. In Bavaria, there were only more infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days in Würzburg and the Starnberg district.

At the same time, the million mark for the Munich second vaccinations was cracked at the weekend. As of Saturday, at least 1,001,960 people in Munich had a second injection. This means that the vaccination rate for first vaccinations is 71.1 percent and for second vaccinations 67.3 percent, and for those over the age of 18, 84.6 percent are first vaccinated and 80.2 percent are second vaccinated.

Booster vaccinations are also still in great demand. The city has already freshened up more than half a million times. That makes up around 34 percent of the population.
